Zoo Crew Apparel was started in 1991 in Newark, NJ. The name Zoo Crew originated as a group of guys promoting parties in Newark. The following became huge in the city of Newark. The Crew started renting out skating rinks and clubs to give the youth ages 21-27 activities which weren't being offered in Newark.

In 1996 Zoo Crew Basketball was formed to give youth in Newark another outlet other than being on the streets getting into trouble. The basketball program has saved thousands of lives in the past 25 years. Rest In Peace to Coach Malik (pictured) who passed away unexpectedly on May 16, 2021. He has been a part of Zoo Crew Basketball for 20 years and has touched a lot of people during this journey. He will definitely be missed.
